DAB sounds worse than FM, Internet radio & radio via digital TV
FM stations WILL NOT be switched off in 2015 - that date has been dishonestly set early to scare people into buying DAB now. FM stations won't be switched off until around 2020

Frontier-Silicon to release combined DMB-Audio, DAB+, DAB receiver module

1st July 2008

Frontier-Silicon, which produces around 80% of all the DAB receiver modules that power DAB receivers sold in the UK, has announced that it will be releasing a new receiver module that handles all of the variants of the Eureka 147 DAB system, namely DAB, DAB+ and DMB-Audio. Support for DMB-Audio will have been added due to France choosing to adopt this variant for its digital radio system, as Frontier-Silicon won't want to miss out on module sales there.

France was expected to launch its digital radio system within the next few months, but the big broadcasters have complained to the CSA (the French equivalent of Ofcom) that they're not ready to go ahead with the licensing process for digital radio stations yet because they've got too many other things on their plate, such as HDTV and/or mobile TV. So the advertisement of digital radio licences has been put back by the CSA from 16th June to 1st October to allow the broadcasters some breathing space.
